Vittorio Viarengo is an Italian executive in Silicon Valley. He has held senior R&D and Marketing roles at BEA Systems, Oracle, VMware, MobileIron, Skyhigh and McAfee.
Vittorio Viarengo was born in Genoa and has lived in Silicon Valley since 1998. After a Computer Science degree, he spent over twenty years at the companies that defined the modern software era: BEA Systems, Oracle, VMware, MobileIron, Skyhigh, McAfee.
He held Vice President roles at five of them, leading hundred-million-dollar product lines and teams distributed across California, Bangalore and Bucharest. Four of the companies he worked at were acquired.
Today he is the founder of ViVi Software, a mentor to young Italian and European founders, and the author of Largo ai Giovani — his first book. He lives with his wife Paola in Los Altos.
Largo ai Giovani ("Make way for the young") is a memoir-manifesto. It argues that Italy doesn't have a talent deficit — it has an activation deficit. Drawing on thirty years of Silicon Valley experience and a childhood in a Genoese bakery, Vittorio makes the case for a country that stops asking its best twenty-somethings to wait their turn. The manuscript is complete and in conversations with Italian publishers; the English edition will follow.
